Southampton Amateur Rowing Club (SARC), the only Southampton rowing club situated on the eastern bank of the River Itchen, based at the Itchen Ferry, Woolston, is a registered Community Amateur Sports Club with Clubmark Accreditation.

A leading Club within the Hants and Dorset Amateur Rowing Association (ARA), Southampton ARC have won at every level, gaining many Hants and Dorset and South Coast Championship honours at every status since founded in 1945 and compete regularly at inland regattas, winning the National Eights Championship in 1953.

Our energetic Junior / Cadet Section has links with Grove Park Business and Enterprise College, The Sholing Technology College and The Woolston School Language College and members from many of the other Schools on the Eastern side of Southampton and welcomes boys and girls with ages ranging from 10 years to 16 years on Tuesday evenings between 6.15pm – 7.30pm (winter) 6.00pm - 7.30pm (summer), and on Sunday mornings between 11.00am and 1.30pm.

Whilst a competitive Club, with a growing racing membership, we also encourage Veteran Rowers for both competitive and leisure activities. We have an open door policy and provide coaching and equipment for all, with free taster sessions for those new to the sport.

We welcome over 16 year olds on Thursday evenings between 6.30pm – 7.30pm (winter) 6.00pm - 7.30pm (summer), and on Sunday mornings between 9.30am and 11.00am.

Our freehold premises, which we are planning to extend, allow for indoor training and a good social programme, with a bar and hall to relax in after training, and Community activities throughout the week for Family Members.

Why not come along, have a look around, and meet a few of the 'crew' (see contact us section for ways to get in touch).

If you would like to add anything (photos, stories, etc.) to SARC website please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
